Private collectors, dealers and antique enthusiasts understand the value of antique hunting in Butte County. Many spend 2-3 days shopping this area, which is known for its retirement community and estate sales. Low prices, wide variety and numerous specialty stores make shopping in this historic region exciting. You can find everything from jewelry, oil lamps, furniture, glassware, china, clocks, primitive kitchen and farm implements, pottery, dolls, jukeboxes, radios, slot machines and much more. Chico, Oroville and Paradise chambers of commerce offer maps and brochures of local antique shops, which number well past 50. One can easily spend an entire day in each town, browsing the stores and taking in a lunch at a unique diner, tea room or restaurant. It makes for a wonderfully nostalgic day.
